How to edit a documentation title and summary inline

Update the title and summary of a documentation page by clicking directly on the text in the editor. Changes are saved through a sticky footer that appears once edits are made.

Documentation pages in Dyno use inline click-to-edit fields rather than a separate editing form or rich text editor. To update the title or summary, you click directly on the text you want to change. It turns into an editable field right where it sits, and clicking outside the field commits your edit. This means there are no separate "Edit" buttons to find for these fields.

Edit the title and summary

Click directly on the documentation title text at the top of the page. The title turns into an editable text field with your cursor placed inside it.

Clear the existing title and type your updated title. The text updates in place as you type.

Click the summary text below the title. This commits your title edit on blur and activates the summary for inline editing. Type your updated summary text.

Save your changes

Once you have unsaved edits, a sticky footer appears at the bottom of the page with Save and Cancel options. Click outside the summary field to commit that edit, then review your changes.

Click Save Changes in the sticky footer. The draft saves and the footer disappears, confirming that your updated title and summary have been persisted.

Prerequisites

  • You have an existing documentation draft open in the documentation editor.

Troubleshooting

  • Sticky footer not appearing: Make sure you have clicked outside the field you were editing so the change registers. The footer only appears once at least one edit has been committed by blurring the field.
